Working out can sometimes be a chore. Planning on what to do with your hair shouldn't be one of them! Regardless if you wish to preserve your extensions, want to keep your hair off your face, or just wish to look fly before and after your workout —braids provide a groomed, stylish way to accomplish all three. Here we lay out three of our favorite styles when hitting the exercise circuit.
The Double Dutch

One of the reasons why we love the double dutch braid is because it embodies a warrior-goddess fierceness. It's also a great way to keep your hair looking presentable throughout and after your workout. To re-create, simply part your hair down the middle. Add in your clip on extensions along each parted side (or work with the permanent ones you already have).
You can also try it sans extensions if that's your vibe as this style also works wonderfully to create volume without extensions. Next, create a 3D braid by braiding underneath versus over top and intertwine the bottom of each braid into two mini-buns. Secure with a few bobby pins. Bonus: This style is the best for keeping hair off your neck for that intense workout.
THE BOXER BRAID

Similar to the double dutch, the boxer braid can make the most of a blow out, well-place extensions, or a quick exit after the gym. No need for hair grooming after your workout! To get the look—part your hair directly down the middle and begin braiding it tightly into a reverse French braid. Create this 3D style by working from underneath to give your style next-level fullness. Secure ends with two elastic bands.
THE TWO-IN-ONE ROPE BRAID

This style is ideal for extensions or to create added fullness. It's also a great way to wear wet hair to the gym or disguise "workout hair" after exercise.
First, make one rope braid at the back of your head. A rope braid is done by only using two strands (instead of three) and braiding your hair in a similar fashion as you would a three-strand braid.
Rope your two strands together by grabbing hair closest to the scalp (strand one) and twisting it with your outside strand (strand two). Keep tension on both strands to maintain your rope braid tight and secure.
Next, apply the same roping technique to the front of your head, moving quickly so as to not to unravel the rope.
Finally, wrap the front and back strands around each other and secure with an elastic band to create one joint hanging braid.
